ARRIVAL AND LEAVING TIMES

Arrival time is 3 pm or later. Please sign the visitor’s book and leave the key to the cottage on the hook to the right of the door into the kitchen, and be ready to leave by 10am at the latest as our housekeeper will need to prepare the cottage for our next guests.

GUEST OCCASIONAL BED IN DINING ROOM

Please contact us if you wish to use this bed. Linen is not provided for this bed, but can be provided for a fee.

WATER

The water is heated by the combi boiler in the landing upstairs. The hot water takes a while to reach the kitchen, so just wait until it arrives. In the bathroom is a shower with electric heater which needs to be turned on and off by the ‘pull’ in the bathroom.

HEATING 

The gas heating is controlled by the boiler in the upstairs landing. The Timer is set for 7.30am – 10.30am and 4pm – 11pm, and this will usually be set to come on for your first day (except summer months). The operating instructions are on the shelf below the boiler.

ELECTRICITY

The electricity meter is in the cupboard on the right of the sitting room window. This cupboard also houses the electricity ON/OFF switch, spare light bulbs and torch.

WOODBURNER

We provide an initial supply of wood for the first evening. More wood/kindling can be bought at Castle Stores - turn right out of the cottage. Smokeless coal can also be used -  DO NOT USE ordinary house coal.

TV & RADIO

The television in the sitting room has a DVD player located on a shelf behind it. 

DVDs can be rented from Castle Stores (for a deposit of £25).  There is also a small music centre/radio.

​

INTERNET

Access to the internet is free of charge.

You will find the access code written above the modem in the sitting room.

​

REFUSE 

We have a new recycling waste collection. Please refer to the refuse collection rota on the kitchen door. The collection is on Friday morning at 7am – please put out the refuse on Thursday evening. As the non-recyclable refuse is only collected once a fortnight, I would be grateful if you could also put out the additional black sack which may have been left by the previous occupants.

DOCTOR 

In the village there is a doctor’s surgery, near the bypass where you came in: 

Quantock Medical Centre, Banneson Road, NS.  Tel:  01278 732696.

Further up Castle Street on the same side as Damson Cottage there is the Quantock Veterinary Practice.

RECREATION GROUND

There is a recreation ground with a children’s play area which is on the left just as you turn off the A39 to come into Nether Stowey.   

 

SUPERMARKET

The nearest supermarket is Morrisons - on the A39 main road bypassing Bridgwater town centre - on the right hand side travelling from Nether Stowey.
