Damson Cottage is ideally situated to explore the Quantocks and many other locations.

 Castle Street
Nether Stowey is an interesting and attractive village and has many surviving mediaeval buildings.  Castle Street, where Damson Cottage is situated, leads up to the remains of Stowey Castle high above, where sheep now safely graze.  From here you have views over the Quantocks, to the Mendips, to the sea and over to Wales.  The poet  Coleridge lived and wrote in the village and his house is open to the public (NT).  The newly designated Coleridge Way starts here, continuing across the Brendon Hills, Exmoor and finishing in Porlock.

Local facilities include a Post Office and general stores, butcher, bistro and 2 pubs serving food.  Also a remarkable second-hand bookshop.  There is a children's play area on the recreation ground a short walk from the cottage.

 Quantock Hills

With the Quantock Hills being within 1 mile, the cottage is ideal for exploring this beautiful area with its moorland, woods, wildlife and wonderful views.  You will find many leaflets and maps in the cottage.  Visit Quantock on Line for more information.
